Daddy Long Legs Stilts - The Review!

This past Saturday I was finally able to get up on my set of beautiful, alluminum stilts sent to me from Daddy Long Legs Stilt Company - and I am completely in love. These things just absolutely kick butt!
Now, don't get me wrong - by no means could I be considered an authourity on stilts, but I am an authority on me, and I know what I like. Ya know what? I love these things. They shipped me the heavy duty aluminum stilts, as I told them that I have a penchant for beating the crap out of things, and take them to the limits of either them or me. (I'm finding as I get older they seem to be making things stronger, though, as my body usually gives out first.
Hmm... Even with that, I ripped apart my old set of wood pegs until they weren't much mote than glue and support brackets when I was done with them.)
Before I even put them on, I noticed that construction on these is simple yet well thought out, and they're sturdy as hell, yet still wonderfully light. (When I looked closer i saw that they had even stamped my name into the aluminum foot plate - now how friggin' cool is that?) Daddy Long Legs has a great online instruction manual for setting them up, so make sure you look at that first, as you might do something stupid like bolt your shoes on backwards in all the excitement. HA! Who would be such a dork to do something like that? I mean, I guess it might be somewhat excusable if the guy who did that didn't have internet access from his motorhome, but still - uh - make sure you read the instructions first, so you don't. Thankfully Paul, my main contact, was right there for me on the interweb when I needed help - though I would recommend that they put an instruction manual in with the stilts.(Ahem.)
The stilts I got were three footers, which is a really nice change from the two's that I've been using for the past few years, though when I got up on them they seemed like they were about 5 feet taller, not just one. Once I was able to get the feel for them and seperate myself from the wall, that's when I truly realized how much better they felt than my old pegs - mainly because they were so much lighter, but also the balance was fantastic, and they just felt incredibly solid. I was a bit nervous as my first few steps were on sand-coated concrete, but the rubber peg-end things held tight. I'm curious to see how long they last...
Well, before I knew it I had been up for about an hour, which was usually very noticable on my old pegs by that time, with fatique and discomfort. These, however, were still going strong - and I could have easily kept going on them for at least a few more hours, but had to go get ready for something else.
If you're considering getting stilts - and I assume that if you've read this far you very well may be, then I can very highly recommend the Daddy Long Legs Stilt Company stilts - whether it's your first time up, or if you've been stilting for years. Like I said before, they rock!
